Gregory Stephens

Mr. Stephens practices intellectual property law with a focus on patent prosecution, technology licensing, patent acquisitions, patent litigation support, and intellectual property counseling.

Mr. Stephens has extensive experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications both nationally and globally for Fortune 500 companies, technology start-up companies, and major research universities. Technologies worked with include mobile telecommunication networks and mobile phones, computer hardware and software systems, RF transponder systems, software control systems, consumer electronics, network interface drivers, and image analysis/pattern recognition systems. Many of the patents drafted and/or prosecuted by Mr. Stephens are in practice and used in licensing.

Mr. Stephens has negotiated and drafted technology licensing agreements, software licenses, patent purchase agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and employee/consulting agreements.

Mr. Stephens has drafted infringement and freedom to operate opinions as well as patentability and validity opinions for corporate counsel resulting in reduction or illumination of risk for the client.

Additionally, Mr. Stephens provides patent litigation support and strategic analysis of infringement issues and claim construction to manage or reduce risk for the companies supported. Prior to law, Mr. Stephens was an engineer for General Electric working on software development and was also a Patent Examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Stephens is a 1994 graduate of Rutgers University School of Law – Camden, NJ and a 1988 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (Virginia Tech) with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Mr. Stephens is a member of the New Jersey, Pennsylvania and North Carolina Bars. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
